Press is Typewriter’s format-and-publish surface — the job Vellum and Atticus own for indie authors, built into the same desk as your manuscript, story bible, and CoAuthor.

Workflow mirrors the gold standard: pick a book style that applies to every chapter, preview how it reads on ebook and print, then generate DOCX, EPUB, and trim-sized print PDF.

Why authors leave Vellum (and what we fix)

Vellum is beautiful and Mac-only. It costs about $200–$250, and you write somewhere else — then import and hope. Atticus is cheaper and cross-platform, but authors still report bugs and a weaker drafting home.

Press is web-first (any OS). Styles and preview open free. Generate follows your Typewriter plan. Your manuscript never leaves the product that holds cast, continuity, and collab.
