Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

Content ownership

You own everything you write in Typewriter. Your manuscripts, story bibles, notes, and any other content you create are your intellectual property. We claim no rights over your work. You grant us only the limited license needed to store, display, and transmit your content back to you as part of the service.

Acceptable use

Typewriter is a writing tool. Use it to write. Don't use it to distribute malware, harass others, violate laws, or attempt to compromise the service. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms or abuse the platform.

Service availability

We aim for high uptime but don't guarantee uninterrupted access. Typewriter is provided "as is." We may perform maintenance, deploy updates, or experience outages. We'll do our best to communicate planned downtime in advance.

Pricing & billing

The core editor is free. AI features require a paid plan. Prices are listed on our pricing page. We may change pricing with 30 days' notice. Payments are processed through Stripe. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact us if you're unsatisfied.

Termination

You can close your account at any time. We can terminate or suspend accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, we'll give you a reasonable window to export your data before permanent deletion.

Limitation of liability

Typewriter is a writing tool, not a legal, financial, or publishing service. We are not liable for lost manuscripts (keep your own backups), publishing outcomes, or decisions made based on AI suggestions. Our total liability is limited to the amount you've paid us in the preceding 12 months.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Questions? Email hello@typewriter.digital.
